Here on the Seacoast of southern New Hampshire and Maine, we sure do love our farmers markets! We’re fortunate to have a variety of options to shop for local produce and artisan goods throughout the year, thanks to our AMAZING farmers, growers, purveyors, and market organizers, which include Seacoast Eat Local, Seacoast Growers Association

Outdoor farmers markets on the Seacoast are typically held from May through October—and during the off-season, we take the fun indoors to the Maine Winter Market and New Hampshire Winter Markets

Take a peek below at some fabulous Seacoast farmers markets and what we love about them! YAY!

Southern New Hampshire Farmers Markets

Portsmouth Farmers Market

Walking distance from downtown Portsmouth and conveniently located across the street from the South Mill Pond playground, the Portsmouth Farmers Market is blooming with flower arrangements and excitement. You’ll find a bountiful variety of fresh, organic produce, cheese and meats, as well as the best egg and sausage sandwich you’ll ever have from Kellie Brook Farm

The market also offers handmade jewelry, live music, and a variety of beautiful artisanal goods. It’s the perfect spot to buy seedlings in the springtime for your garden, and your weekly produce in the summer and fall.

One of the larger farmers markets in the Seacoast area,  you can discover more than produce here. In addition to organic vegetables, fruits, and beautiful flower arrangements, the Exeter Farmers Market offers a variety of lunch options, baked goods, and local meats and cheeses.

The Playful Garden Camp—a program that encourages nature-based play for all ages— takes place in the green area next to the market. A fun way to enjoy a summer Thursday afternoon if you ask us!

It may be a small market, but it sure is a mighty one! The Kittery Community Market takes place in Kittery’s Post Office Square on Sundays during the summer and fall months. Conveniently located right next to Tributary Brewing Company and Blue Mermaid (Hellloooo Sunday Bluegrass Brunch!), this market is a fun addition to a sunny weekend!

When visiting, you’ll find the expected organic produce—we ADORE everything from Bumbleroot Farm, and amazing homemade skin and hair products can be found at He Be G-Bees! York Farmers Market

Welllll, if Stonewall Kitchen is located essentially in the same parking lot as the York Farmers Market, you kind of have to visit both…right?? Fresh veggies followed by coffee, muffins, and some yummy little jam samples seem like the perfect summertime combination to us. Anyone agree??

The York Farmers Market is one of the Seacoast’s larger markets, offering a variety of products from fresh produce and locally baked goods, to handmade jewelry! This market takes place in a shaded area on Saturday mornings from May to October. In the winter months, vendors head indoors to the winter farmers market that’s held inside the York Chamber of Commerce!

Fun Fact: Stonewall Kitchen actually started selling it’s beloved jam products at the Portsmouth Farmers Market in 1991. Talk about full circle!
