A seacoast native’s travels took her to San Francisco, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Bali and India before returning to her roots and embarking on a very different adventure this August.

With a fascinating background and in a unique line of work, Kate Cameron shares her story in our Q & A below…

How would you describe your business?

Seeking Sundara is a business created to help people lead better, healthier, more empowered lives. Using a combination of techniques including yoga, life coaching, and hypnotherapy, I help people to get to the root cause of dysfunction and help exchange it for something better.

We’re intrigued… How did you get into doing this?

I studied psychology at the University of New Hampshire, hoping I would find answers on how to live a meaningful and purpose-driven life.

After graduating from college, I moved to Thailand to teach English, and during my stay, I became hospitalized for a week. Being so far from home with little knowledge as to what was happening with my body, I experienced a serious wake-up call. I decided when I was well enough to leave the hospital, I would dedicate my life to doing what I truly wanted to do.

As I took time to travel the globe, I was introduced to meditation and learned about our mind’s unique way of healing through altered states of consciousness. I immediately became fascinated with the subconscious mind, studied clinical hypnotherapy, and become both a life coach and certified yoga teacher.

What is hypnotherapy?

In short, hypnotherapy (or hypnosis) is an altered state of consciousness in which we are able to create real and lasting change. Hypnosis can be used to alleviate stress, complement healing for medical conditions (such as mood imbalances like anxiety and depression), manage pain, access stored memories, promote confidence, and improve relationships, sleep, and sports performance. It can also be used to quit smoking, manage weight, and break unwanted habits.

Hypnosis can help you change the way you feel in your life by giving you greater confidence and abilities to succeed.

We love how passionate you are about your work…

I believe wholeheartedly in what I do, and love being a part of people’s success; it gives me a genuine feeling of fulfillment.

What do you most enjoy about the seacoast?

I love all four seasons! Fall is my favorite, and I feel truly lucky to live in such a beautiful place with so much history and an incredible community. There is a charm to Portsmouth and the surrounding area that is just so special.

What do you do for fun?

For fun, I sing and play guitar. I write creatively and am currently working on a book about my travels!

Thank you, Kate, for sharing your story with us!
